Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. As a child she attended the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma always had the desire to become an actor since she was at the age of six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting institute which offers classes for part-time students. As part of a school production and a Stagecoach show, she took as the lead role at age 10, and acted. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was released in 1999. Casting agents found Emma through her Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight consecutive auditions. Emma's debut on screen came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in 2001. The film set records for beginning-day and weekend-opening sales and became the top-grossing movie of 2001. The film was praised by experts, and also by the performances of its three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British newspaper, was awed by her for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance was nominated and later won awards for the movie.
